David is a Historical Interpreter for the Oklahoma Historical Society at Fort Gibson Historic Site. To interpret the complexity of Anglo/Indian relations on the Frontier in early 19th century his programming is divided between military and Cherokee living history. Fowler is a member of the Cherokee Nation and documents his ancestors as part of the Western Cherokee Nation. Much of his research has been devoted to these “Old Settlers” and their roll in Arkansas and Oklahoma history.   David is a graduate of Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK, in the field of American Indian History.  He is also one of the founding members of the 6th Infantry Living History Association.
