Who Is Matt Reed
By: Matt Reed
Matt Reed works as the Curator of American Indian Collections at the
Oklahoma Museum of History
in Oklahoma City, OK. Matt graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BA in American History and an MA in Applied History. His academic studies have continuously been focused on American Indian and American military history.
A long time living historian, Matt is also a member of the
6th Infantry Living History Association
.
The majority of impressions that Matt is able to interpret to the public involve the military. Among these are an 1817 Rifleman, 1830-40's U.S. Infantry, Civil War soldiers from Indian Territory, WWII National Guard, and WWII Navy Submariner.
In addition to these portrayals, Matt has also provided programs on Southeastern Indian material culture, Pawnee Scouts, Paleo-Indian tools, and buffalo hide scraping. The strength of these particular interpretations comes from Matt's tribal heritage as a member of the
Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma
and as the Curator of American Indian Collections for the Oklahoma Historical Society.
